Actor Anne Heche Dies August 12, 2022
Anne Heche, the actor who got her start playing twins on the soap opera “Another World,” was removed from life support on August 14, following a car crash on August 5 in Los Angeles. She was 53.
Heche was born in 1969, in Aurora, Ohio, and grew up in a Christian fundamentalist family. She suffered abuse, and she believed that her father was a closeted gay man. She wrote a memoir about her experiences, titled “Call Me Crazy.” She said, “I’m not crazy, but it’s a crazy life. I was raised in a crazy family and it took 31 years to get the crazy out of me.”
She appeared in many movies, including “Donnie Brasco,” “Volcano,” “Wag the Dog,” and “Six Days, Seven Nights.”
In addition, she appeared in television projects, including “The Brave,” “Quantico,” “Chicago P.D.,” and “Men in Trees.”
Heche hosted a podcast called “Better Together” since 2020.
Heche was famously in a relationship with comedian Ellen DeGeneres in the late 1990s, at a time when openly gay relationships were uncommon in the entertainment world. She felt that the relationship damaged her career: “I was in a relationship with Ellen DeGeneres for three-and-a-half years and the stigma attached to that relationship was so bad that I was fired from my multimillion-dollar picture deal and I did not work in a studio picture for 10 years.”
Heche suffered a severe brain injury during her accident on August 5, and she was declared brain dead on August 12. She remained on life support until August 14, when she was matched with an organ recipient. She is survived by two sons, Homer and Atlas.
